What are video Thumbnails, and Why do they matter?

When it comes to thumbnails, let’s talk about movies and series so that you can understand. Every great movie and series out there have something in common. They have an awesome trailer. They have an awesome way of showing us that if we miss it this time, then we are doomed. Once movie producers and scripters have your attention, then it’s time to give you the real deal. At that time, you will be the judge of whether that movie or series is worth your time.

The same thing applies to thumbnails. Thumbnails are a preview of what you are about to see and listen to in a particular video. It’s a snapshot of the video reduced to a mixture of text and a picture that advertises the video. In this sense, it is a smaller version of a full digital image that could be easily viewed while browsing several images.

So, why do Thumbnails matter?

They act as a preview for your audience

When someone is on YouTube, they don’t want to figure out what the videos are about. They want you to tell them what the video is about. The best way to do this is by creating an effective thumbnail. In short, you have created a mixture of pictures and text that shows but does not tell. It shows the user that this is what you will get from this video. This is what you should expect to happen if you follow the advice. Or this is the tip that you have been missing all this time but haven’t known all along.

This creates the impression that you know what you are doing. Once the user has this in mind, they are more likely to choose what you are going to do with your videos.

Consistency

As we have said earlier, you don’t need to be an expert in graphic design. All you need is a consistent theme of what you are doing. That means that you use the same person or thing to showcase your content to the world. This system of organization will show that you are easy. Your prime focus is that you are giving the best advertisement.

Once you have mastered this, then you will see improvements in the traffic and views that you will see in the oncoming future. This aspect will also improve search rank for YouTube videos. This is because users will click on the first few videos that offer exactly what they are looking for.

Google keeps a record of the click rate

YouTube wants the user to have an optimal experience. That means that if no one is clicking on your videos, it might be really hard for them to get likes and views. Simply put, the YouTube algorithm will not work for you. Every search made will rank lower than usual because it lacks user engagement.

Thumbnails in that case are an absolute lifesaver for your channel, as they will be able to snatch users from their presence. That means that you will be able to grow your audience.

Also, this might lead to your video being featured as trending or placed in a playlist that others can see.
